Getting Started with CorePlan for Mining & Exploration

Welcome to CorePlan! If you’re new here, this quick guide will help you understand what CorePlan is, what it can do for your mining or exploration projects, and where to start.

CorePlan is your all-in-one platform for drilling data management. Instead of juggling spreadsheets, manual data transfers, and multiple disconnected systems, CorePlan centralises your data so you can see what’s happening in real time. This means faster decision-making, fewer surprises, and better control over your projects.

When you log in, you’ll land on the Global Dashboard. Think of this as your control centre, it gives you a live overview of all your active projects. You can filter by project, contractor, rig, drill type, or date range to focus on what matters most. Here, you’ll find total metres drilled, rig utilisation, pending plods, penetration rates, time usage summaries, and key cost metrics. Hover over charts to zoom in on the details.

Drilling plods are the daily shift reports submitted by your drilling contractors. They can be submitted through the CorePlan portal or the CorePlan App. Each drilling plod includes detailed shift information, such as metres drilled, time usage breakdowns, activities completed, costs, and any attached forms or images. You can review these plods in the Pending Review tab, approve them if everything looks correct, or reject them with comments explaining what needs to be updated. Drilling plods can also be exported as PDF or CSV for record keeping.

Earthworks plods track daily activity for earthworks operations. These include details like pad construction, rehabilitation activities, equipment usage, consumables, and associated costs. Like drilling plods, they are submitted digitally and appear in the Pending Review tab for your approval. You can approve them when the information is correct, or reject them with clear comments for updates. Earthworks plods can also be exported as PDF or CSV for further analysis or record storage.

Want to explore your data in more depth? Head to the Advanced Analytics section. You’ll find pre-built dashboards for contractor performance, safety and compliance, operational overviews, and rig activity. You can build your own dashboards too, apply filters, and compare data like penetration rates versus downtime across multiple sites. It’s a powerful way to identify trends and act on them quickly.

If you need to focus on a specific project, switch to Project View. This gives you a detailed snapshot of site performance, with the ability to drill down by rig, program, or date range. You can track spending versus budget, drilling progress, and compliance in daily, weekly, monthly, or per-shift views.

The Drill Holes tab lists every hole across your projects. Search and filter by status, program, hole type, tenement, or workstream. Each hole record includes location, drilling progress, penetration rate, cost data, planned versus actual metrics, and core imagery if available. Directional holes will show linked child holes, and you can also view activity workflows, surveys, intervals, and associated plods.

The Reports section is where you’ll find detailed cost summaries, breakdowns, and cross-checks against plods. You can filter by rig, date, or item type, and export to Excel or CSV to share or analyse further.

CorePlan integrates with your geological database, Power BI, GIS, and other systems. This means all your teams work from the same, up-to-date information, reducing errors and saving time.
